Ask yourself a question, does a simple servo motor sound make your complex robot character sound good? The answer is absolutely not. As a seasoned sound designer I can tell you that what you need to make your Robot character to sound real, are a very well designed sounds transformation sequence, like a vehicle sound that isn't the classic metallic whoosh but instead an intelligent vehicle that come directly from the future, else a Droid body transformation so realistic that you can feel the power of the machine come directly from your speakers, or a futuristic weapon designed to be not only a bang noise, but instead an amazing plasma gun that you can feel that it's real from loading to fire!
